Drum Machine
Drum Machine
A classic analog-style drum machine on General MIDI drum keys: a long, boomy kick, snappy snare, metallic hi-hats and cymbal, clap, rimshot, cowbell, congas, claves and maracas. Every hit of a layer is identical, as on the machines it imitates; harder hits sweep further and sound brighter as well as louder. The open hi-hat is not cut off by the closed one.

Techno Drum Machine
A punchy, bright analog-style drum machine on General MIDI drum keys: a short, driven kick with a hard click, a noisy snare, crisp hi-hats, clap, rimshot, three swept toms, crash and ride. Every hit of a layer is identical, as on the machines it imitates; harder hits sweep further and sound brighter as well as louder. The open hi-hat is not cut off by the closed one.

Analog Drum Machine
Nine drum voices recorded from a modern analog polysynth, each its own patch, on General MIDI drum keys: a pitch-swept kick, a short snare of two tuned tones and pink noise, rimshot, closed and open hi-hats, three toms and a cowbell. The analog circuits make each recording slightly different from a synthesized kit. The open hi-hat is not cut off by the closed one.

About the tags
The tags under each instrument say how much of the original recordings it keeps. Hover over a tag for a reminder.
- full standard compact tiny
- The size of this version, largest first. Full keeps every recording Antinote uses from the source. Compact keeps fewer velocity layers, and on some instruments fewer recorded notes, so you can load many instruments at once. Tiny goes further, with one layer and shortened notes. Where an instrument comes in more than one size, each is listed with its own tags.
- mono stereo
- One channel or two. A stereo instrument takes twice the memory of the same instrument in mono.
- 2 layers
- Velocity layers: separate recordings of each note at different dynamics. With more than one, playing harder changes the tone, not just the volume. With one, it only gets louder.
- chromatic zoned
- Chromatic instruments have a recording on every note. Zoned instruments have one every few notes, each shifted in pitch to cover the notes around it: smaller, with a little less variation from note to note. Hover over the tag to see the spacing. Drum kits have one sound per key and have neither tag.
- 3 programs
- Playing styles in one download, such as bowed and plucked, or
with and without vibrato. Each is its own
.sfzfile.
Licenses
Every instrument here is free to use in your music, including music
you sell. Each instrument's license and credits are listed with it, and
included in its download as CREDITS.txt. Check them before
redistributing an instrument, especially commercially: some authors
require credit, and some ask that their samples not be sold.
Most of Antinote's instruments are based on freely licensed recordings. Antinote isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, their authors. The rest are original, made for Antinote, and credited without "based on".
